Also, only available to members, a new Precision Rifle Shooting Range has been added to the existing long distance shooting area. This new area includes seven different firing lanes with steel targets from 200 yards to 640 yards. Each firing lane begins with its own barricade/shooting position.

We also host Archery, Trap, and Skeet Shooting. We allow pistols, rifles, and shotguns. We do not allow fully automatic weapons in the Park.

We do not provide firearms. Eye and ear protection is available for purchase. Targets are also available for purchase.

Some notes and some wishes. First some wishes.

In large part because of the shortage of materials for reloading and the available supply of ammo and its cost, it has become difficult for shooters to actually get out to the park and enjoy shooting. I do understand, believe me. This creates a possible problem, however, for our park’s future.

I believe we are the best, safest, most well maintained shooting facility that is open the year around. We are also a non-profit with limited sources of income. And because of this we rely on membership dues to keep operating allowing us to offer you a well maintained shooting park and we are getting better all the time. Most of the credit for this should be given to our staff, Harold, working in the office, and Kevin, working outside.

2020 and 2021 have turned out to be some interesting times. Some things have gotten better and some things we are still waiting for. I’m sure, however, that as time passes “normal life” will return to us all. So, with this in mind, here’s a report about what’s going on at the park, what’s happening and some of my wishes for all of us. I would encourage you to continue to support us with your memberships and renewals.

The pistol range, the rifle range and the outbuildings have all been painted and spruced up. A great improvement. Dust abatement has been laid on the entry road. All the roads inside the park have new gravel. The new 22 rimfire area has been reworked with new gravel and expanded parking. Tables and rifle racks have also been added to each of the four bays.

Out on the long range new gravel was added to enlarge the parking area by three times. Also, a fourteen foot wide walking strip has also been added to the entire firing line for high powered rifle competitions. Members and their guests can still shoot out to barricade #7 which is now easier and less dusty with the new walkway.

We will get to the other side of this snag. And I honestly do appreciate your continued support!

Thank you,

Jerry Bounds, President
Sun Valley Shooting Park
